First Nations Delivery Credit

The First Nations Delivery Credit reduces the electricity delivery charges for on-reserve First Nations residential customers, lowering overall electricity costs.
How to apply
- First Nations customers must contact their electricity distribution company to enroll in the HST exemption program.
- Once enrolled, the delivery credit will be automatically applied.
Energy Affordability Program (EAP)

The Energy Affordability Program helps reduce electricity costs and improve comfort by offering free energy-efficient upgrades to homes. This program has two options:
- Comprehensive Support: For those who need the most help, this includes a free in-home energy assessment to find ways to improve energy efficiency. Upgrades might include new appliances or weather-stripping.
- Energy Saving Kits: For moderate-income households, these kits include items like LED light bulbs, timers, and clothes drying lines.
Both options are completely free.
How to apply
- For Comprehensive Support, an expert will come to your home to assess what upgrades can be made.
- For Energy Saving Kits, the kit will be mailed to you.

Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP)

The Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) provides emergency financial help for people who are behind on their electricity or natural gas bills. If you’re at risk of having your service disconnected because of unpaid bills, LEAP may help cover the cost.
How to apply
- Contact your utility company to ask about applying for LEAP if you’re behind on your bill.
- LEAP funds are applied directly to your outstanding balance.

Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP)

The OESP is a government initiative that helps reduce electricity costs for eligible low-income households by providing monthly credits directly on the electricity bill.
How to apply
Step 1: Gather information
- Your electricity bill
- Names and birthdates of all the residents in your home as registered with the Canada
Revenue Agency (CRA) - Social Insurance Numbers (SINs), Individual Tax Numbers or temporary taxation
numbers for all household members who are 18 and older.
Step 2: Complete the application
There are 3 ways to apply:
- Online – Apply now at OntarioElectricitySupport.ca and either complete the
electronic consent form or mail the consent form to the address on the OESP website. (the CRA needs your consent to verify your income). This is the fastest way to apply. - On Paper – Complete the application and sign the consent forms (the CRA needs your
consent to verify your income). Mail them back to the address on the OESP website. You
can download the documents from OntarioElectricitySupport.ca - Through an Intake Agency – Contact a designated intake agency near you if you would
like help with your application. There is no cost for this service. Find an agency near you. - Note: If you have not filed an income tax return recently, or if your situation has
changed since you last filed, you must apply for OESP through an intake agency. You’ll
need to bring all of the documents listed in step 1 above, plus proof of your household
income
On-Reserve Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program (RRAP)

This program offers financial assistance to eligible First Nations homeowners to improve the safety, quality, and energy efficiency of their homes.
How to apply
Applications are managed through First Nations Housing Departments or the program administrators. Contact your local First Nations office for assistance.
Home Winterproofing Program
Offered by: Enbridge
This program helps low-income Ontario households make energy-efficient improvements to their homes, reducing winter heating costs.
How to apply
Apply directly through Enbridge Gas or their authorized delivery agents, either online or by phone.
Small Business Program
Offered by: Save On Energy (IESO)
The Save on Energy Small Business Program is designed to help small businesses across Ontario make equipment improvements to reduce their energy consumption, at no cost. This program is different from the Retrofit program in that it is targeted towards small businesses, as opposed to medium-large businesses.

Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Program

The Oil to Heat Pump Affordability (OHPA) program helps homeowners who are currently heating their homes with oil, transition to eligible electric heat pump systems.
How to apply

Canada Greener Homes Loans

This government-backed initiative provides interest-free loans to homeowners for energy-efficient home upgrades such as insulation, windows, and heating systems. Visit the website for more details.
How to apply
- Apply through the Greener Homes program website and schedule an energy audit.
- Submit your loan application after receiving the audit results and identifying eligible upgrades.
Northern Ontario Energy Credit

The Northern Ontario Energy Credit helps offset the higher energy costs experienced by residents in Northern Ontario by providing a tax credit to those who qualify.
How to apply
- Apply by filing your income tax return with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). The credit is determined as part of the Ontario Trillium Benefit.
- You must also complete Form ON-BEN, Application for the 2025 Ontario Trillium Benefit and Ontario Senior Homeowners’ Property Tax. Be sure to attach the completed form to your return. This form is included in the tax package for residents of Ontario. Visit the website for more details.
Ontario Energy and Property Tax Benefit

The OEPTC provides financial assistance to low- to moderate-income Ontario residents to help cover the cost of property taxes and energy bills.
How to apply
- Complete your personal income tax return annually, and your eligibility will be determined based on the information provided.
- Ensure you file with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to receive the credit.
Peak Perk Program
Offered by: Save On Energy (IESO)
The Peak Perks Program is designed to encourage consumers to reduce their electricity usage during peak demand periods by offering incentives. Participants in Peak Perks save with their smart thermostats by participating in brief, time limited thermostat adjustments during periods of peak electricity demand that can occur on the hottest summer days.
How to apply
Enroll through the Save on Energy website or, if you’re a Hydro One customer, through their My Energy Rewards program.
