First Nations Delivery Credit

Offered by: Government of Ontario

The First Nations Delivery Credit reduces the electricity delivery charges for on-reserve First Nations residential customers, lowering overall electricity costs.

How to apply

  • First Nations customers must contact their electricity distribution company to enroll in the HST exemption program.
  • Once enrolled, the delivery credit will be automatically applied.

Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP)

Offered by: Ontario Electricity Board (OEB)

The Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) provides emergency financial help for people who are behind on their electricity or natural gas bills. If you’re at risk of having your service disconnected because of unpaid bills, LEAP may help cover the cost.

How to apply

  • Contact your utility company to ask about applying for LEAP if you’re behind on your bill.
  • LEAP funds are applied directly to your outstanding balance.

Northern Ontario Energy Credit

Offered by: Government of Canada

The Northern Ontario Energy Credit helps offset the higher energy costs experienced by residents in Northern Ontario by providing a tax credit to those who qualify.

How to apply

  • Apply by filing your income tax return with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). The credit is determined as part of the Ontario Trillium Benefit.
  • You must also complete Form ON-BEN, Application for the 2025 Ontario Trillium Benefit and Ontario Senior Homeowners’ Property Tax. Be sure to attach the completed form to your return. This form is included in the tax package for residents of Ontario. Visit the website for more details.

Small Business Program

Offered by: Save On Energy (IESO)

The Save on Energy Small Business Program is designed to help small businesses across Ontario make equipment improvements to reduce their energy consumption, at no cost. This program is different from the Retrofit program in that it is targeted towards small businesses, as opposed to medium-large businesses.

Home Winterproofing Program

Offered by: Enbridge

This program helps low-income Ontario households make energy-efficient improvements to their homes, reducing winter heating costs.

How to apply

Apply directly through Enbridge Gas or their authorized delivery agents, either online or by phone.

Canada Greener Homes Loans

Offered by: Government of Canada

This government-backed initiative provides interest-free loans to homeowners for energy-efficient home upgrades such as insulation, windows, and heating systems. Visit the website for more details.

How to apply

  • Apply through the Greener Homes program website and schedule an energy audit.
  •  Submit your loan application after receiving the audit results and identifying eligible upgrades.

Peak Perk Program

Offered by: Save On Energy (IESO)

The Peak Perks Program is designed to encourage consumers to reduce their electricity usage during peak demand periods by offering incentives. Participants in Peak Perks save with their smart thermostats by participating in brief, time limited thermostat adjustments during periods of peak electricity demand that can occur on the hottest summer days.

How to apply

Enroll through the Save on Energy website or, if you’re a Hydro One customer, through their My Energy Rewards program.
