Energy Advisor Training 2026 Round 1

Ishkoday is partnering with the Home Inspectors Group to get Energy Advisors trained in First Nations. This is fast growing field in high-demand, and we want to see First Nations consumers that are trying to access energy efficiency programs have access to Advisors to qualify for programs that require the audits. Advisors do vital work for their nation, specifically around auditing home energy needs.
Trainees will become Registered Energy Advisors and can be contracted to work throughout Ontario! 15 Spots will be sponsored, there is room for 5 additional students who would cover their own costs. If sponsored students fail to meet the program requirements, there could be room to become a sponsored student.
Participants’ Needs
- Windows Laptop (to run HOT2000 software)
- Internet Access
- An equipment list will be provided to participants for once they have
- completed the Energy Advisor Exam
Interview
All applicants to the program will be interviewed before acceptance into the program. Interviews will take place February 2nd-4 , 2026.
Training and Exam Costs
- 5 day in-person training will be offered for FREE:
- Meals/Accommodations/Travel (1 week in person training)(Paid)
- Foundation Level Exam (virtual) – $150.84 (Paid)
- EnerGuide Rating System – house (Virtual) $150.84 (Paid)
- Total – $301.68 + meals/accommodations (Paid)
*All amounts will be based on the Provincial Rates for travel.
Program Steps
- Online Orientation – 2 hours – February 9, 2026!
- Foundations Exam Review and Prep. – 3 Weeks (Self and Virtual)
- Complete and pass Foundation Exam (Virtual)
- 1 week in-person training with site visit – (April 13-17) (8-9 hours/day)
- Virtual study sessions – Weekly Group Session (3 weeks)
- Energuide Exam Review and Prep. – 3 weeks (Self and Virtual)
- Energuide Final Exam
